Oslo band DWAAL plays ultra-heavy, atmospheric sludge, doom, post-metal or whatever you want to call it. Their dense wall of sound fluctuates between aggressive, suffocating, melancholic and hypnotic, and can be compared to bands like Amenra, Neurosis or Cult of Luna. Since forming in 2014, they have released two critically acclaimed albums via Dark Essence Records, as well as a self-released EP. Their latest release "Never Enough" is an emotionally charged primal scream that was released in September 2023 and earned the band a nomination for the Norwegian Spellemannprisen in the Metal category. Over the years, Dwaal has gradually increased its intensity and gained a reputation as a formidable and captivating live band, with crushing energy and an ability to create dark, oppressive atmospheres. They have played at by:Larm, Inferno Festivalen, Midgardsblot, Høstsabbat, Beyond the Gates, Mysic Festival, Tallinn Music Week and a number of other festivals and events both in and outside Norway.
- EMANUEL DESPERADOS -
Emanuel Desperados has been hammering out heavy riffs from the heart of Grenland since 2009. What started as groovy stoner rock has developed into a broader and more unique expression that borders on sludge and doom, massive rock of the leaden and tenacious kind. The band makes the music they themselves want to hear – as long as it is hard-hitting, raw and imbued with heaviness. In recent years, the band has brought in more atmospheric and dynamic elements from post-rock, which is clearly evident on the EP Vol. 1 from 2023. The result is an expression that is both massive and atmospheric – at times dark, chaotic and driving, but still catchy. After 15 years, Emanuel Desperados has a long list of concerts behind them, as well as an LP, two EPs and two live releases – including a raw live recording from RiP and an acoustic performance from Ælvespeilet. The current line-up consists of Kristoffer Widerberg (guitar, vocals), Frode Moen (guitar), Terje Fjellstad (bass) and Stian Tollefsen (drums). Together they deliver a massive and intense sound that hits both live and on record.
