THE BIG RIP

The Big Rip is a heavy stoner rock band from the industrial town of Porsgrunn that emerged from band breakups and the pandemic. Inspired by the classic stoner rock bands of the 90s and 00s, the band also draws inspiration from Scandinavian folk music and American blues, giving them a uniquely organic sound.

The Big Rip have played in large parts of Norway, supporting legends such as LA Witch, El Caco and Thulsa Doom. The band made their debut outside the kingdom in Sweden in 2025, where they played at the Truckfighters' Fuzz Festival in Stockholm, and this year they are playing at Desertfest Oslo.

The EP Olympus Mons has received good reviews at home and abroad, and the band is known for energetic live shows with a wall of sound.

ASTRALPLANE

The brothers in Astralplane together symbolize three of the fundamental elements of heavy rock; Fuzz, Psych and Doom! Together they mix heavy riffs from the 70s with psychedelic stoner rock from the 90s and 00s, and they will take the audience on a psychedelic journey to unknown destinations and sonic landscapes. They have a magical interaction that can only be explained by the same blood flowing through them all. 

Both bands will play at Desertfest Oslo the weekend after RiP, so there are two bands that are sharpened and ready to deliver maximum punch come Saturday May 2nd! We are really excited about this!
